OctoPlus has increased its fill & finish capacity by expanding its GMP facility
OP-145 is OctoPlus’ proprietary peptide for treatment of chronic middle ear infection. Clinical proof of concept was achieved in a Phase II study, for which complete and final results are available under confidentiality. Topline results from the study were presented at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy in September 2009.
OP-145 is a novel peptide for the treatment of mucosal infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The product has an innovative mechanism of action that neutralizes bacterial toxins and restores the host’s defense mechanism. The product’s first focus is on treatment of chronic middle ear infections (chronic otitis media).
A Phase I/II clinical trial in patients suffering from chronic otitis media was successfully completed in collaboration with Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. During the first phase of the trial, a dose ranging study is performed in 16 patients, with a primary endpoint of safety and tolerability. The next phase comprises a double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 26 patients. Clinical endpoints are the clinical improvement of middle ear mucosa and reduction of infection measured via microscopic inspection, with a final endpoint of a clinically dry middle ear.
OctoPlus is actively seeking partners for this promising product. For more information on OP-145, please contact our Business Development department by filling in the online e-mail form.
