OctoPlus has increased its fill & finish capacity by expanding its GMP facility
OctoPlus works together with SciGen Ltd. to co-develop a single-shot hepatitis B vaccine.
Single-shot vaccine innovation
Existing hepatitis B vaccines typically require two or three doses. By creating a single-shot hepatitis B vaccine we aim to achieve increased patient compliance and greater efficacy of the vaccination programme. As such, it will help protect more people from this life threatening disease.
Significant market potential
We target a significant proportion of the estimated US$1 billion global market for hepatitsi B vaccines. To date, no single-shot hepatitis B vaccine exists that is available on an international scale.
What is hepatitis B?
The WHO describes hepatitis B as one of the major diseases of mankind and a serious global public health problem. Of the 2 billion people who have been infected with the hepatitis B virus, more than 350 million people have chronic infections. These chronic carriers of the hepatitis B virus are at high risk of developing hepatic necrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, diseases that result in about one million deaths annually.
